Takashi Kiyoizumi, M.D., Ph.D.,
is an accomplished life sciences executive and thought leader. Most recently, he was a founder, President and Chief Executive Officer of MediciNova Inc., a U.S. company that he took public in Japan. Prior to that, Dr. Kiyoizumi served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Tanabe Research Laboratories U.S.A. and Senior Vice President of Business Development and Strategic Planning of Interneuron Pharmaceuticals. Dr. Kiyoizumi began his career in the biotech industry with ImmuLogic Pharmaceutical Corporation. Prior to joining the industry, Dr. Kiyoizumi was an academic physician and a board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon. Dr. Kiyoizumi earned his M.D. and Ph.D. degrees from the Keio University School of Medicine in Tokyo, where he was an Assistant Professor of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He is a visiting professor at Nihon University Graduate School of Business. He received a Master of Science in Management from the Sloan School of Management at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
