is an Executive-in-Residence with Sofinnova Ventures. He has 35 years of experience in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries working with public and start-up companies. After 28 years with Eli Lilly & Company, he retired in 2001 as Product Group President for Oncology and Critical Care. During his tenure at Eli Lilly, Mr. Ringo held a number of senior positions including President of Internal Medicine Products, President of Infectious Diseases Business Unit, and Vice President of Sales and Marketing for U.S. Pharmaceuticals. He is the former President and Chief Executive Officer of Abgenix, Inc., which sold for $2.7 billion to Amgen in April 2006. He also serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors at Intermune, a biopharmaceutical company focused on developing and commercializing innovative therapies in pulmonology and hepatology. From June 2003 to September 2003, Mr. Ringo served as Intermune’s interim President and CEO. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Inspire Pharmaceuticals, Allos Therapeutics, and Portola Pharmaceuticals and holds a B.S. and an M.B.A. from the University of Dayton.
