Motohiro Yamasaki
is President and CEO of Yamasaki Pharma Consulting Co. Ltd. that provides expert assistance for in- and out-licensing deals and company partnering in Japan. Previously, he was a Senior Corporate Executive Officer at Tanabe Seiyaku Co., Ltd. During his tenure at Tanabe Seiyaku, he held posts as Deputy Executive of R&D Headquarters, General Manager of R&D Planning and Management Division and Head of Corporate Licensing & Business Development, and took leadership in concluding a great number of licensing transactions and establishing numerous Japanese-Western joint enterprises in the U.S. and Europe. As an expert in the field of pharmaceutical R&D management and licensing, he has authored several papers in professional journals and has been an invited speaker at many international meetings. He works with an established-network of licensing and management executives of almost all large- to medium-sized pharmaceutical companies as well as bio-venture companies in Japan. He continues to actively participate as a Board Member in Japanese Pharmaceutical Licensing Association and as an Auditor in Licensing Executive Society Japan. With 40 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical industry, he became an independent consultant and founded Yamasaki Pharma Consulting Co., Ltd. in 2004.
