Rx3 Pharmaceuticals Expands Board and Management Team
Anti-infective company hires VC as Executive Chairman of the Board

San Diego, CA, June 27, 2005 – Rx3 Pharmaceuticals, Inc., an anti-infective drug
discovery company, announced today that it has hired Jeffrey Stein, Ph.D. to serve as its
Chairman of the Board in an executive capacity. He will focus his efforts on business
development and science strategy. Dr. Stein is taking on this position in conjunction with
his recent acceptance into the Kaufman Fellowship program, where he will be working as
a Venture Partner with Sofinnova Venture Capital. He was previously founder and Chief
Scientific Officer of Quorex Pharmaceuticals, which was acquired by Pfizer. Dr. Stein
has served as a scientific adviser to Rx3 since early 2005 and he will also become
Chairman of the Company’s Scientific Advisory Board as part of this appointment.
